Join the Dance Team!
OA Dance Team is a great way to get involved with your chapter and have a lot of fun
in the process. Each year our chapter receives requests from units all over the district to come and perform Native American Dances for all sorts of events. This Ta Tanka tradition goes back to when the chapter began and remains a highlight of many Blue and Gold dinners, Webelos Bridging Ceremonies, Courts of Honor, and other fine scouting events. Participants learn a variety of native dances, drumming techniques and are involved with the actual making of the team’s customs and regalia.
The Dance Team is one of our most prestigious groups involved with sharing the Order of the Arrow awareness within our district and council. Dancers are Ta Tanka ambassadors to packs, troops and crews as well as community organizations that benefit from our cheerful service.
Dance team members also can participate in Lodge events such as
Pow Wow competitions, Indian Affairs weekends, and attend regional Native American events that foster learning and awareness of native cultures and traditions. Be a part of the total experience.
Ask the chapter chief how you can make a difference and become part of Ta Tanka’s Dance Team now!
Be part of the Indian Affairs!
Join Indian Affairs and get more fun out of the OA experience.
Ceremonies Teams Passing the Legend on to new arrowmen is a centerpiece on the OA path of brotherhood... Remember your Ordeal? One of the first things new candidates experience is the mystery and lore of a tradition that carries back to the first ceremonies on Treasure Island.
Did you ever wonder how those arrowmen became part of the ceremonies you experienced, and how they learned the traditions they passed along to you? Ta Tanka chapter is looking for fellow arrowmen who are themselves looking to get more fun out of the OA and become a part of a living legend of brotherhood and service.
Every year at our spring and fall ordeals, members of the ceremonies teams have a chance to share that mystery with new candidates and those who are moving on to accept the brotherhood challenge & honor.
The chapter is looking to fill out the ranks of all three ceremonies teams as we plan for the upcoming year. This includes Pre-Ordeal, Ordeal and Brotherhood teams.
If you want to have fun passing on the lore and traditions of the legend, ask your chief how you can become a part of our ceremonies program. It’s one more way you can be a bigger part of a very long tradition.
