Hi Everyone!
Hi Rancho Del Mar! We're wrapping up our Spring Recruitment
registrations, RDM led the way with several hundred new Scouts! Some
people are concerned that they cannot place a Scout into a Den at the
moment but that is not necessary until after the Fall Recruitment. For
now please include them in any summer activities you have planned and
let them know what the upcoming Fall calendar includes. There is also
Roundtable in July and August, this is the best place to start to get
people involved in the Scouting world! Speaking of Roundtable, remember
to check out the flyer for July, our Commissioners have been busy
planning fun things. We will have a chili cook-off as well as great
information, announcements, and of course camaraderie.

Please mark your calendars with the following dates:
July 29th – 30th - Attached is the volunteer sign up for the OC Fair. We have a few time slots to fill, remember you get free admission to the Fair! Please email Bill Schuetz at wschuetz@aii.edu to sign up.
September 20th – 10am - The city of Irvine is hosting a Pinewood Derby event. We are looking for someone to help coordinate getting the tracks to use, helping to set them up and coordinating the volunteers to run the event. We also want to take advantage of this event to have an information booth for those interested in Scouting. Some ideas that have been discussed are having an area with a table with information and a mock camping set up with a tent and some fun Scouting type things to interest the boys, and the 14+ girls who may want to join Venturing. Please contact Robert Gardner at Robert@rdgardnerfamily.com or myself for more information. This is a great opportunity for Troops as well as Packs!
July 29th – 6:30 for pizza, meeting at 7:00 – Join us for our Fall Recruitment Kick Off meeting! Every Pack and Troop needs to have someone at this meeting to learn about the highlights of the Fall 2008 Recruitment strategies! See the flyer attached for more information. Please rsvp to me nancyw@ocbsa.org with the name of the person from your unit that will be attending.
August 9th – Popcorn Kick Off Meeting – If you did not have someone at the June meeting please make every effort to have someone at the August meeting. This meeting is a lot of fun with lots of great prizes and popcorn samples! You can rsvp to our Co-Popcorn Kernal Nancy Seeber at nancy@autorelo.com I have attached a sign up form that you can fill out and fax back if you have not already signed up.
November 8th – Scouting for Food – Be sure to include this day in your annual planning! More information will be sent out as we get closer!
As a side note, the district is in need of a Day Camp Webmaster. This person will update the link from our district website with pictures and information from our recent camp and information about next year’s camp. The dates for next year will be June 22nd – 26th. If you can help us with this please contact Robert Gardner or myself for more information!
July 10th is our July Roundtable/Chili Cook-Off. Be sure to join us for fun, fellowship and great information! We will have all our normal flyers and break outs! This is a great time if you are in town to get a jump on your Fall planning!

Travis and I will soon be setting up summer meetings with all the units.
Please be thinking about questions you have for us; this is a great
opportunity for us to get to know everyone better!
Day Camp is next week, we are going to have "Fun in the Sun"! There is
a lot of fun planned, including items needed for advancement. If your
son is not attending and you just want to check out the camp we will be
at Mason Park the 23rd-27th from 8-3, be sure to check in with a Key
Staff member (we'll be in green shirts).
