Units in Action - Citizenship in the Community
Submitted by Peter Gruenbeck on Mon, 2010-08-30 14:24Lost Valley
Submitted by Peter Gruenbeck on Mon, 2010-05-31 20:59Lost Valley has a rich past, from early Indian days, through the cattlemen and homesteaders who settled in the area in the late 19th Century, to more than half a century of Scouting history.
The Indian history of Lost Valley stretches back thousands of years. To the Cupeño people, it was known as Wiatava, the place of the oaks. Trade routes cris-crossed the valley, and the annual acorn harvest was an important event each fall.
Local cattlemen discovered the valley in the 1870s, driving their stock up the mountain for summer grazing.

Pack 375 - Action Pack Bowling
Submitted by Peter Gruenbeck on Tue, 2008-11-18 22:06Check out these fun pics of our Scouts! We had a fantastic turn out of 36 scouts for our second Pack event. A special thanks to the parents for enabling this event and for those who helped manage their Den. I saw Michael Quick looking like a Den Leader in his new uniform, up to his waist in Tiger Cubs!
If any Scout did not get a "bowling" belt loop, please let Jock Marlo know.
Pack 375 Hikes Morro Bay
Submitted by Peter Gruenbeck on Sun, 2008-10-19 14:53Thank you for a very enthusiastic turn out for our first pack event - the El Moro Hike! We had 22 intrepid scouts with siblings and the weather was perfect!
What we did:
* Met as a pack, discussed our route, safety, and staying together;
* A long the way we stopped for discussions on prickly pear cactus, using way points for navigation, and how to find north by tracking the sun;
* At the end we finished up with handing out patches and enjoying home made cookies - a special thank you to Mrs.
Pack 375 Pinewood Derby
Submitted by Peter Gruenbeck on Sun, 2008-12-07 20:03This event took place in two phases. Phase 1- build the cars. Phase 2 - Race the cars. As with most scouting events it's as much about the process as the result - family, friendship, values, and scouting. Every Scout who participated is a winner!
We had a wide variety of cars. I thought the pencil and crayon car were the most unique. Our track is unique too. Built in 1968 and handed down through generations of Scouts. And yes at 40, our track has a few "barnacles of life." I thought some of those barnacles made for some pretty intense heats!
